Couldn't have done it without you

We are just about there.

On Sunday, I will be 36 weeks pregnant.

At 36 weeks pregnant, my doctor said I can discontinue bedrest and mediciations because we will enter The Safe Zone.

Two days from now.

I may not still be pregnant at that point, of course. My brother turns 28 tomorrow, maybe they want to share a birthday with their uncle. But either way: I WILL NOT BE ON BEDREST IN TWO DAYS. After 11 weeks. After 77 days. After 1,848 hours.

In anticipation of that day, I wanted to say my Bedrest Survival Thank Yous, just in case the arrival of the twins preempts the day. I have been so blessed...

The doc has instructed me to take it easy on Sunday. Don't push myself, start small, and lay down if I feel too many contractions. (Although we are "ecstatic" in her words to have made it this far with the complications I've had, it's still best if they continue to bake.) Really her warnings are unnecessary. I'm the one who has been in bed for over two and a half months. Just a trip to the bathroom leaves me winded, as I have zero muscle mass and the boys are crushing my lungs. I have no delusions that I'll spend the day skipping through the zoo with Bean, zipping to the mall for some retail therapy with my Mom, or beating DH in a game of tennis. But after spending all this time in a horizonal position, there is one thing I can't wait to do:

SIT UP.

I plan to sit the hell out of Sunday. Sit on the couch downstairs. Sit at the kitchen table with my family when I eat. Sit in the playroom and watch Bean enjoy his toys. Sit on the chair in my bathroom and actually DRY MY HAIR WITH THE HAIRDRYER instead of soaking my pillow like I'm doing at this very moment.

Sit, sit, sit, sit, sit.

I will sit unlike anyone in the world has ever sat before.

And it will be the greatest. feeling. ever.

So thank you for hanging with me these past 11 weeks, I really couldn't have done it without you. I hope you have a great weekend of sitting, standing, or whatever other exciting activities you have planned!

WHOO HOO!!!

Wow- this is dumb of me really but I didn't realize on bed rest you can't even sit. Oh my goodness- wow. The amazing things mothers do for their children.

So glad to see you at this stage! Can't wait to hear good news very very soon!

Go, Sunny, go! Or sit, Sunny, sit! I'm so excited for you. Won't it be a hoot if you jolt and jostle them around inside you for 4 more weeks? We won't think about that.

WOOT on being able to SIT UP!! I don't know how you stayed in bed all that time Sunny!! You are so brave and so tough. You just tough everything out and color it pink ;).

I wonder if you will make it to Monday, lol.

Are you planning on having a Cesarean with this one or were you hoping for a VBAC? (I thought you were hoping for VBAC). Now that I have found out my little one is breech I am all of a sudden thinking a lot about Ceserean and am quite scared. It is not the actual surgery that scares me, it is my nerves. I am scared of my nerves if that makes sense. I just know I will get all worked up in a panic attack, and I am so scared of that. I have been doing research all day on whether they can give antianxialitics or a twilight anesthesia along with the spinal, but I don't think they do until the baby is out. Although I don't know what they do for people who panic.

I am jumping the gun here, but just trying to prepare myself. I am going to try exercises and am making an appointment with a chiro to do the Webster technique. Hopefully he will turn eventually.

Any advice on your Cesarean and how to cope would be appreciated ;)

2 more days for you girlie.

That way, I'm right, and those boys cook, just a bit longer!!! ;) How amazing that you made it this far, right? I am so proud of you and those boys, not to mention your family! It's been so much fun reading your blog. I will miss you because I am sure you'll have your hands full and won't be thinking too much about blogging! You are always in our thoughts and prayers! Keep a look out for Mr. UPS!!!

Thank you for commenting. I am trying to "relax" about it. When I had my D&C with my last miscarriage, I was a wreck. I couldn't stop crying, shaking, my heart rate was up and my blood pressure was up. So, even though yes I was upset about miscarrying again, I was also upset about surgery. I actually begged the doctor to please give me Methergin and let me pass it my own. That is crazy because the first miscarriage I passed on my own took me a total of 2 days in 2 increments each of about 6 hours of excruciating pain. Horrible pain. Of course in the end I was glad I had a D&C because it was a heck of a lot easier. (I had a lot of surgeries when I was a kid that has forever left me with a fear of surgery).

I am not scared of the surgery or even disappointed that I couldn't deliver vaginally, I am scared of the panic.

Crazy huh?

I still have time, he might turn. If not, I will have to deal ;) somehow. Maybe they will knock me out.

It is something though that if I know I have to do then I want to do be strong about it...easier said than done.

Good luck Sunny and update asap!!

Congrats on being able to sit up again! So exciting. I also didn't realize that bed rest actually meant lying down. What a strong woman you are to have made it through these last 11 weeks. Now you have a lifetime supply of "Do you have any idea what I did for you two?" to give your twins if you ever need it. Of course, if they are anything like your sweet bean, you won't need it! Can't wait to see pictures of your newest additions!

I am in stitches at the idea of you challenging your hubby to a game of tennis! After the last pic you posted, I can actually visualise it.

I too, didn't realise that you could not even sit up on bedrest. How did you drink?

Well done on 36 weeks (it is Sunday in Australia already!). I half think the boys will stay in their comfy home for another few weeks just for a laugh! :)

Yay!!!!! I'm soooooooooooooooooooooo thrilled for you! This is big news! I've been so behind on my google reader that I just marked the last 400 entries as 'read'. But you? not YOU, my friend. Never YOU.

Seriously. I'm dying. I can't wait for those cute babies to be born. And hooray for being able to sit up.

So very, very happy for you! And as someone who had my son the DAY I went of meds and bedrest (after a whirlwind shopping trip), I think your plan to take it easy is very smart...and I intend to do the same should I make it to 36 weeks as well.

So glad you've had such wonderful support!!!

You are a total inspiration, seriously! It's Sunday morning as I write this and I hope you are sitting anywhere you please!
