Double fail

It started with this.

The pictures... don't nearly do justice to this paint color. This retina-burning, radio-active, highlighter-inspired color.

That I chose.

For some reason.

I am equally surprised our contractor was able to paint the entire room without having a seizure, and that our neighbors didn't call the cops about the strange glow emanating from that window all night long.

I'm pretty sure you'll get a tan if you stand in that room long enough. And lose all your hair.

Fortunately, we were able to have our contractor repaint with something softer. Unfortunately, the memory of that room will haunt my nightmares for years to come. It was literally the scariest room I have ever seen in my entire life. (And I watched the second season of Twin Peaks.)

Then, the dreaded call came this morning: I failed my one-hour glucose tolerance (aka gestational diabetes) test. I was completely expecting it, but damn damn damn damn damn.

Now I have to schedule the three-hour test for next week for the final verdict, con a friend into watching Bean that entire time, and possibly live without the one thing that keeps my soul afloat during these long days of bedrest. SUGAR.

*sigh*

Well, if it helps my babies, of course I'll do as I'm told. They seem to be growing well so far:

At least I have this to cheer me up.

I just need to get my body pillow back from the dog.

Oh you should have seen 2 of the bedrooms in the house when we bought it. One room was pepto bismol pink mixed with neon pink and the other was the ugliest brightest color blue I have ever seen. I shudder to think of it now.

I hope the 3 hr goes well nest week.

That's such a bummer! You just never know with paint sometimes.

Rest up!

Nice belly and other photos! The paint colour looks kind of like what runs through most of our new house. I have a feeling the photo and my computer screen aren't doing it justice, given the way you've described it.
Hope you ace the 3h test next week - giving up chocolate and sugar and cutting back on carbs would be HARD!

Well maybe the paint seemed like a better idea when you saw the paint samples. At least your contractor fixed it for you!

And wow, that is quite the bump you've got there. Since I haven't seen you in a vertical position I hadn't realized just how large it had become.

And crap on the 1 hr. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the 3 hr. Sugar would be hard to live without.

That yellow green colour is so so hard to get right, it has to be the exact shade of softness (yellow is the hardest colour to get right on walls). Or at least that was what I learned when I was the devils assistant (I worked for a tv decorator chick).
Sorry about the sugar girl!

AND You look FABULOUS!!!!

What was the name of that color? May have been what I painted my kitchen. Looked so pretty as the sample and on some days and lighting, it's great! Others, a litte crazy.... It seems like our house will never be properly painted!

I'm blindly optimistic. Not sure that's exactly what I mean - but the idea is that I have *no doubt* you'll pass the 2nd test and will be able to enjoy sweet treats. I feel it in my bones. (I don't know - is that denial? - Whatever!)

Great pics, I especially like the one of Bean reading the comics--too cute!

Sorry to hear of your appointment, here's hoping the follow up goes well... I've given up chocolate for lent before and it sucked. But sweets ENTIRELY??? Wow...I'm feeling for you, babe!

I was unconnected when I caught up on your blog last time, so now that I am back, I wanted to comment.

SO glad your mom is staying for the time being. So gald that you are doing well on bedrest.

AND SO glad that the contractor can re-paint. painting is great, because it's so easy to make a mistake picking colors.. but no big deal, you just pick a new one and go on. Next time you go in an amazingly painted room, you can silently wonder to yourself if they tried the same green you did the first time. no one ever knows once the "good color" is up.

Can't wait to hear abotu the 3-hour test. i gotta be taking mine one of these days, too.

So are you making two new rooms or one room for the babies to share? Don't you hate how colors do that??? Annoying! Love the belly pic...are you sure you're not pregnant with twins? :)

We lived in our house for three years with three different colors on our living room walls because we were disappointed with each paint color we chose.

At least the Red Room in Twin Peaks comes with some nice bonus features: the midget with the weird talking who brings good news ("That gum you like is going to come back in style!"), Laura, and some really good boogie music.

You didn't pass?! SUCK!!

So sorry.

It doesn't mean that you'll fail the next one though. You should have saved that brightly painted room for a while and perhaps it would steal the sugar and sweet right out of you!!

LOVE the belly, look at those babies grow!!

BOO on the glucose test, sorry you have to do the 3 hour one :(

Oh and after I had GD, I lived on Crystal Light to help get all my water down. It was a little sweet, which was nice too

Hello, Sunny:

I know we look different, eat different food, think different logic, but human feelings are the same. As a woman, I know what it feels like to be pregnant with a baby, especially you got twins,
please eat many small meals, drink many small drinks, walk around, rest a lot, well,
prayers, cheers, ;)

Good Night,
Be on ease.

Oh, duuuuude. I am so sorry about the glucose test! And wait, why do you have to ask your friend to take Bean, where is Grandma?! You didn't let her leave did you?!

Your belly looks awesome, and I swear it is smaller than mine. Can you believe we are knocking on the door of 28w?! Unbelievable! I second the Crystal Light suggestion. Target sells it in these little individual serving sizes which makes it easy for you to get some variety. One thing though, it will give you heartburn if you're not taking Zantac or Prilosec.

Thank you for all the updates!

Little Bean is so adorable and this reminds me of my boys who enjoy the paper also.
That is one bright paint color and I do like color, but Whoa, I need sunglasses or a visor for that Chartreuse!
Good Luck w/your 3hr GTT, you Sweet Thang.

I'm so sorry about the test. Ugh! I am crossing my fingers that you pass the 3-hour test with flying colors...but colors completely unlike the one in that room. I feel your pain on paint disasters. We had "whorehouse red" in our living room for a few days until our painter fixed it.

Haw Haw Haw at the wall colour! But you know what, I have seen some really 'neon' colours gel too well with some kind of decor....

Anyways, I am happy that you could get it changed.

*Calling the dog outside*....go grab that pillow!!!

Shucks for failing the test...but it is all for good....

All the best!

So sorry about the bummer day. The paint reminds me of the white with a hint of peach my parents intended to paint my room--which ended up glowing pink/peach. Seriously, you always thought the light was on when you saw it from a distance. Glad you were able to get it fixed.

I hope the three hour test goes well!

Such a cute picture of Bean!

BWAAAAAA HA HA! I just had a flashback to the horrible paint in my brother and my room back when I was a kid. My mom and dad chose that exact same puke-green-radioactive-glow-in-the-dark color. Except they didn't repaint and we had to live with it. You know it's bad when a 7 and 9 year old think your design decisions are faulty. You're a good mom for changing it. So glad that otherwise you are doing fine and oh my gosh look at that belly. Wow!
